An electric hoist is a motorized lifting device that uses electricity to lift, lower, and move heavy loads, reducing manual labor and increasing efficiency in industrial settings like warehouses, factories, and construction sites. It typically consists of an electric motor, gearbox, drum or chain system, and a hook, controlled by a pendant or remote. These hoists can operate as standalone units or as part of larger systems, like cranes, using either wire rope or chains for lifting.  Key Components & How It Works:
  • Motor & Gearbox: Converts electrical energy into mechanical force.
  • Lifting Mechanism: A wire rope or chain wraps around a drum (for rope hoists) or engages a sprocket (for chain hoists).
  • Control: An operator uses buttons or a remote to control vertical movement (lift/lower) and sometimes horizontal travel via a trolley.
  • Trolley: A wheeled mechanism that moves the hoist along a beam (like on an overhead crane).
Types of Electric Hoists:
  • Electric Wire Rope Hoists: Use wire rope, ideal for heavy lifting and longer distances.
  • Electric Chain Hoists: Use a chain, often better for shorter lifts and precise positioning.
Common Applications:
  • Manufacturing & Assembly Lines
  • Warehousing & Logistics
  • Construction Sites
  • Automotive Garages (e.g., engine lifts)
  • Maintenance (e.g., lowering chandeliers)

An electric jib crane is a versatile material handling machine featuring a horizontal arm (jib) extending from a vertical mast or wall, powered by electric motors for lifting (hoist) and often rotating (slewing), providing precise, efficient movement of loads in defined areas like workshops, warehouses, or production lines, offering advantages in space-saving, safety, and reduced operator strain with options for wall-mounted or floor-mounted setups. Key Components & Features:
  • Jib Arm: The horizontal boom that supports the hoist.
  • Mast/Column: The vertical support, either floor-mounted or attached to a wall.
  • Electric Hoist: A motor-driven unit using chain or wire rope for lifting and lowering loads, offering speed and control.
  • Slewing: The rotation of the jib, often motorized for smooth, wide-angle movement (e.g., 270° or 360°).
  • Controls: Usually pendant-controlled, but remote controls are also available.
How it Works:
  1. Lifting: An electric motor powers the hoist, lifting the load vertically via a hook.
  2. Moving: The operator uses controls to swing the jib arm and move the hoist/load horizontally within the crane's reach.
  3. Precision: Electric operation allows for accurate positioning, reducing manual effort and potential for injury.
Types & Applications:
  • Floor-Mounted (Pillar): A freestanding column for versatile placement.
  • Wall-Mounted: Attaches to a building structure, saving floor space.
  • Uses: Ideal for loading/unloading machines, workstations, assembly areas, and areas supporting overhead cranes.
Benefits:
  • Space Efficiency: Compact design, especially wall-mounted units, maximizes usable space.
  • Enhanced Productivity: Faster, more precise material handling.
  • Safety: Reduces manual lifting, minimizes workplace injuries, and offers safety features like slew limiters.
  • Low Maintenance: Fully electric systems can be more eco-friendly and require less maintenance.
